Here at The Phoenix Centre we aim to complement the range of 'spaces' already available at other community venues in Sandwich and the local Parishes, we aim to fill the gap and offer something new, something fresh and vibrant.

We feel that we have a number of unique features that make us an ideal choice of venue for new local groups, regular or one off meetings, small business seminars, local government training, workshops, activities, arts, crafts and performances. As well as being able to offer a great venue for family celelbrations and events.

We already enjoy wonderful community support with a wide range of local groups regulalry using the Centre. Everything from local rock bands to classes for foreign students, from Brownies to Bring Alive Sandwich Heritage they all have found a home at The Phoenix Centre.

We strive to be truly Community Centered.

The Phoenix Centre Ethos:

As Centre Trustees we aim to create much more than an average community space, we are not just another impersonal building with rooms to hire, we aim to be able to offer the local communities much more than this.

1/ We aim to be open, friendly and approachable.

2/ We strive to be professional at all times.

3/ We make an effort to be flexible.

4/ We try to create a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere.

5/ Whenever possible we strive to meet the needs of the community.

6/ We endeavour to follow examples of ‘best practice’.

7/ We have a policy of inclusivity.

8/ We are improving the Centre, so we can offer you a top quality communtiy facility in which to hold your event.

9/ The Centre adheres to the principles of Zero Waste.

10/ We hope to make Centre an example of environmental excellence, operating to a good environmental standard.

User groups will also be able to access support on issues of 'best practice' and advice on funding related matters from the STARR Initiative Project Delivery Manager who will be based at the Centre on a part-time basis.

The Environment Matters.

Here at the Phoenix Centre we are doing our best to reduce the Centres impact upon both the local and global environment. We are installing renewable energy technologies, energy and water saving measures, we are using recycled or recyclable materails and throughout the building we have minimised waste and the use of materails that are potentailly polluting or damaging to the environment. The Centre has also signed up to the Zero Waste Charter. If your group, company or organisation cares about the environment we are confident that you can book the Phoenix Centre as a venue knowing that we are doing our bit to care for the environment and the welfare of future generations.
