Why use The Phoenix Centre?

As part of the overall building project the whole Centre is undergoing refurbishment, the main public areas have already been decorated but further work will be undertaken over coming years to update these spaces to create a community venue of very high standard. You will find that The Centre is bright, clean and warm in the winter offering scope for a wide range of activities or functions.
Spaces available for hire in the Community Centre:
Main Hall: A large well lit hall, decorated in soft yellow with wood cladding it has a bright, airy feel with windows overlooking the grounds. The hall also enjoys direct access to the kitchen and its small associated seating area.
IT Suite: A cheerful smaller room with large picture window, decorated in a soft blue. Seats fourteen at fixed benching, multiple electrical sockets and operator chairs make this an ideal training space, just add laptops.
Stage: The Centre has a large stage with bamboo laminate flooring, pale yellow walls and wood paneling. An excellent space for rehearsals and a host of other performance activity when hired with the Main Hall. The Stage can also be partitioned from the Main Hall by the use of a full size acoustic wall creating a quiet space ideal as a 'breakout room' or as a committee/meeting room. This space also has a built in LCD projector and very large screen, available at an additional fee.
Kitchen: The kitchen is light and spacious; it has recently been upgraded with the fitting of white kitchen units to one wall offering a large counter area. There is a large serving hatch to a small seating area and the main hall; it also has windows over looking the grounds to the front of the building. Kitchen is equipped with a sink, kettle, fridge, microwave, toaster, and a reliable hot water supply.
Other Facilities:
All toilets have recently been refitted; they are decorated in bright colours with natural rubber flooring. The toilets have been designed to high environmental standards, with many water and energy saving features, fixtures using novel recycled and recyclable materials have been used throughout.
The disabled toilet has been designed to a similar high standard and is fully DDA compliant. This space is now also equipped with baby changing facilities and a 'toddler seat' to offer Centre users the facilities that the modern parent/career requires.
Spaces available for hire in the Youth Wing:
Youth Hall: Great acoustics, with very funky decoration, the hall houses a pool table, pay to play juke box, it enjoys direct access to the grounds via its own designated smoking area and has a relaxed seating area. This hall can be hired for meetings and parties. With access via serving hatch to kitchen area. Air conditioning available.
Youth Cafe: A bright, light airy space decorated in lively citrus colours, furnished with aluminium and wooden cafe cafe chairs and tables, very continental. With access via serving hatch to kitchen area. Air conditioning available.
Youth Kitchen: Well equipped large kitchen, two electric cookers, microwave, coffee filter etc. Can be hired with Youth Hall and/or Youth Cafe.
Equipment:
We also have a wide range of equipment to support presentations, seminars and workshops. Available for hire on site, we have full size presentation display boards, white wipe boards, LCD projectors, TV, DVD, Video, OHP, screens, 35mm slide projector, internet access at broadband speeds and high quality PA system. We can also arrange crockery and tea urn hire for seminars and celebratory events.
Grounds and Car Parking : 
The Centre sits in its own tree lined grounds, despite its proximity to the Centre of Sandwich the grounds feel very secluded and we are visited by a wide range of wildlife which adds both colour and interest to the grounds. The privacy offered make this an ideal space for outdoor activity of many types.
We have our own Car Park with in our grounds, free to Centre user groups, the Car Park is open and well lit. As the grounds are gated it is possible to offer greater security than could be enjoyed by on street parking.
