Young People Plant Young Trees
Young people who visit Phoenix Youth joined with committee members to launch a tree planting scheme to help green the grounds of The Phoenix Centre and Woodensborough Road Cemetary. The trees were planted as part of a youth led project to enhance the environment in Sandwich South .
We would like to thank all those who attended for thier hard work on a two cold dull days.
Youthie is open Monday and Thursday evenings from 7.00pm - 9.00pm and we welcome young people from 13 to 18 years old, inclusive from Sandwich and the surrounding villages. Phoenix Youth aims to create a safe, secure and sustainable, real and virtual youth community to serve the needs of young people regardless their age, ability, culture or background. Equality, diversity and inclusion are important to us.
We have a pool table, table tennis, Cobalt Flux dance mats, PS2's, Xbox, internet access, a tuck shop, a pub CD juke box, and much more.
The centre from time to time runs a course's for young people including, Food Hygiene Certificate, Cookery Courses, Pottery Course and arts projects.
Phoenix Youth is a dedicated Youth Space, planned and designed with the help of local young people and was opened in October 2007. It consists of a Main Hall, a Cafe area, Training Kitchen, 1-2-1 space and a Youth Workers Office. Our aim to work with local young people to provide a modern well equipped space. This youth space is built to high environmental standards and is probably the greenest youth space in Kent.
The Youth Forum
The Phoenix Youth Forum was established in 2005 from a group of young people who use the Centre, so that local young people can have say in the running of Phoenix Youth and be able to influence Youth Issues in the wider community. They also contribute ideas for days out, coures's and activites for themseleves and other members of the youth centre.
